There are over 6 million artefacts in the possession of the British Museum with approximately 60,000 on display at any one time. Where to start? Let Michael take you on a 2 hour tour of this wonderful museum visiting the ‘must-sees’ including the Rosetta Stone, Parthenon Marbles, The huge head of Ramesses II, The Assyrian Lion Hunt Reliefs, The Sutton Hoo Collection, to name just a few. There will also be a few hidden treasures to discover, making the visit complete.

From here Michael will take you on a walking tour of this district known as Bloomsbury. We will visit its famous tree lined squares framed by its eighteenth century Georgian houses, home to the intelligentsia, writers and artists, such as Leonard and Virginia Woolf, John Maynard Keynes, TS Eliot and many others. WE will visit the nearby Fitzroy Tavern where George Orwell and Dylan Thomas would discuss poetry and prose with other like-minded souls. Another writer who lived nearby was Charles Dickens, and after seeing his home from the outside we will visit Coram Fields and the Foundling Museum that provides a fascinating insight into eighteenth century London and the plight of its orphaned and abandoned children.
